Shouldn't DVR recording with AAC_LATM be able to be direct played?

Last time I checked, ExoPlayer has a AAC decoder and regular AAC plays with no issue.

Shouldn’t it also support AAC_LATM by extension or am I mistaken? I’m getting transcoding occur.

Yes, you’re right, it should - but it doesn’t at present. I’m told by a Plex Dev that this is scheduled to be fixed in a beta build at some point …

Oh. How did you get to hear that? They rarely comment here.

I’m in direct conversation with one of them about the range of issues that are plaguing UK Plex DVR users.

Note that there’s no guarantee as to when any identified issue will be resolved - though they are very aware of the UK shortcomings and I’ve no doubt that they will address them in due course.

Interesting. Thanks for chiming in. At least I can actually play video now. Before it would just freeze a frame for a minute and play audio so it’s clear they are making improvements to the playback side. Hopefully ExoPlayer 2.x isn’t months and months away.

I’ve been bringing this up a few times over the years, has been a problem forever. Really hope they solve it
