No audio on recordings with AAC_LATM on Samsung QN94A

Plex Client version: 5.28.2, platform 6

Finding some of my shows recorded by plex DVR are playing with no audio in the Samsung Plex app whilst others play back fine.
The only thing I can see common between the files is that the audio is showing as ‘Stereo AAC_LATM’
They were recorded on BBC 1 and ITV HD here in the UK using the Haupauge WinTV QuadHD.
Other HD recordings with Mpeg audio or LLC play back fine on the Samsung app and I have had no problem playing all the files in other clients.

Have tried with and without direct play and direct stream, allowing insecure connections and adjusting the playback quality (I get a playback error if I try and set anything but ‘original’)

Any idea where to go from here??

Just tested again today with last nigths recording of I’m a Celebrity’ on ITV HD and again no audio in plex but other plex clients and the emby client on the Samsung does play it fine.

Interestingly I am now getting a ‘Unexpected playback’ error when I try and view the channel direct, which was working previously.

I have tested today with logging enabled.
I tried ITV HD and then BBC 1 HD from the plex DVR guide and they failed.
I then tried to play back the recording of the show from last night which played with no audio.
Same settings as above post (Direct play, original quality)
Time was around 11.45am.

Can someone take a look?

Just tried updating the TV Firmware (From version 1805 to 1808.1) and no difference sadly.

I’m having the same issue, for now the workaround I use is to disable direct play and direct stream which forces a transcode and audio plays fine.

Surprised it’s not more widely reported

Thanks for the reply andonevris
Yesterday I was mucking around with disabling both those and I got a failed playback.
Today if I disable direct play I can get audio playback on the same recordings with no audio previously.
BUT I am now getting audio sync problems, and if I try and use the skip forward/back buttons the progress wheel will often get stuck on the screen whilst the video plays without skipping ahead/back. Only way to get rid of it is to stop and play the video again.
A real mess!

Seems there has been a long standing issue with plex not direct playing streams with AAC_LATM to many clients as these threads show:

Unfortunately with a lot of UK Freeview HD channels using AAC_LATM we are a bit stuffed unless Plex can sort this out.
