I encountered this more than one time but this time, I’m sure it’s not OK and there is a bug in the scheduling algorithm.
I scheduled the series “Scènes de ménages” to record every NEW episodes and restricting recording to be done around 8:25 PM.
Up until this week all was fine, but to my surprise, no recordings was scheduled for this week but only for the next week !
I checked the guide and I made sure that the episodes of this week was “NEW” and was having something that differentiate them from previous or next week episodes and sure they do because each episode carry the airing date as an episode title. For instance today episode is :
5 - 10 - 21
So I decided to delete the schedule and create a new one. In the guide I selected the episode I wanted to be recorded (the monday one) and recreated the recording job with the same properties and now all the episodes of this week are scheduled to record, but the episodes of next week are not.
So it seems that even though Plex clearly see that this week and next week episodes are from the same series, in reality for the recording engine they are not.
To further demonstrate that this is the case when creating a schedule for this week episodes : in the drop down list for the time restriction I only see the 8:25 PM aring time. Whereas when I create a recording job with the epiosdes of the next week : I don’t see the 8:25 PM but a 8:30 PM and a 13:40 PM (the show also airs in the afternoon)
So when scheduling Plex see two “instances” of the show instead of only one (otherwise the airing time list should be 13:40 PM / 8:25 PM and 8:30 PM)
I guess that the series ID in the guide data is changing but it is an issue because Plex doesn’t allow me to create two schedules to overcome the issue.
If we don’t pay attention to what is recorded or not, then it’s possible to miss recordings and this is obviously not good.
