Show who is streaming what and when

Please, please, please,…

I want, I need ALL of that

There is a script to show this and send daily reports of what have been watched: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/35698-plex-reporting-script-for-seeing-what-clients-have-watched/page__st__40

The script is working for me at least. Just install it and add crontab to run it…

But I am running Windows 7, and that only runs under Mac and Linux

This would be a greatly appriciated feature. +1000

+1

I was asking Elan about a feature like this in chat, almost immediately after myplex was launched. He stated its an interesting idea and something along that line was already being discussed internally.

Im not sure what ever came of those discussions.

This is my number one requested feature for PMS. Im a heavy user and also have quite a few users that connect almost daily.

Besides what is mentioned in the OP for features,

I would LOVE to see what device type they are connecting with. I have warned my users to try and avoid Transcoding based setups as much as possible. I would be nice to know if they are listening.

If would also be great to give priority to users as well.

this would be a very cool feature.

And also to block an ip or a MAC address at certain hours or days (mac address preferably)

I have tried to get elicit some sort of response from the devs on this to no avail. They are probably tired of people asking for it. What I don’t understand is the difficulty level involved in implementing this. In my mind, it should be very easy for the devs to display who is streaming what. The other stuff might be harder. You have 40+ people on this thread who have all paid $29 asking for a feature that would take at most a month, but probably about a week to implement. It just seems like low hanging fruit. Meet us half way and let us see who is streaming what, and then work on the other 4 components later. What am I missing here? There has got to be something right? Or this would have been done months ago.

I agree. It is quite alarming that this not already implemented. In terms of trust and security of Plex platform, the lack of this feature definitely pulls in the wrong direction. Putting on the tin-foil hat, maybe Plex is in bed with the MPAA, allowing Hollywood to take a look inside myPlex-enabled libraries. Probably not, but we have no way of being sure... :(

Looking at the per-release it appears the team is VERY busy improving the basics such as CPU load from the trans-coder… It is likely that these less exciting but important for everyone changes are taking up a great deal of time.

Just because a feature is in high demand doesn’t make it more important that basic core functions.

Really? This thread was started 01-Sep, that's not even two months ago. How far out do you think their development timeline goes? I'll bet it's way more than 2 months. I'm sure they've already got fixes and features in dev that have been there longer than 2 months and after those are done, there are already more fixes and features that will still come in ahead of this request. More communication is always beneficial to us, but the devs have stated in the past that for strategic reasons they don't release dates for feature implementations.

Seriously?! If this is your concern then what makes you think this feature will fix that and why are you using any central media center if you're concerned that someone will know what media you have? If they wanted to they could already phone home with your library contents. If you're seriously concerned then break out wireshark and start examining the data stream.

Come on... What you are suggesting is that this feature is difficult/time consuming to add? I doubt that! And what I wrote was in support of Powertowerpro, so I'm not the only one making that assumption...

I meant for the tin-foil hat part to be an obvious exaggeration - apparently, you didn't get that. No, I don't fear that the MPAA is looking at my data via myPlex (BTW, I personally have nothing to hide but others may). But we can't know - for sure...

Still, it would be nice to be able to see who is accessing my data - right, my friends are, but some statistics on their use would be nice...

Again, to quote Powertowerpro: "I have tried to get elicit some sort of response from the devs on this to no avail." That makes two of us..

That the devs choose to ignore this glaringly missing core feature makes me a bit uneasy regarding their platform security priorities...

So you are implying that all of the feature requests are in fact a bit redundant: Not until every basic core feature (who decides what those are, BTW?) are nicely polished, user base requested features are largely ignored, even the Popular rated ones? So sad for those requests that are not so popular...

I guess that what is really the matter here, is the complete lack of communication regarding the feature requests and the processing of them.

Plex is characterized by a uniquely enthusiastic user base, which in less than two months has produced highly relevant and thoroughly discussed feature requests.

However, not even that can inspire the dev team to interact or at least give some sort of guidance on their views on the future of Plex. That is a bit sad…

To make matters worse, following up on long-standing requests is met with complete silence or very brief dismissals or nonsense “stop nagging the devs - they are busy”… That may be OK in the regular forums, but in the Plex Pass areas, I expect(ed) a bit more…

MTII, why must you always spread FUD, and see the glass as emptier than it is? Negativity is not a positive trait.

We’re not ignoring the feature. I’ve always said to anyone who’s asked me “yes, good point, we’ll look into this”.

If you read over the release notes carefully for the preview release, you’ll note the following:

This work is directly related to providing this information.

I don't believe that I am - at least it is not my intention...

Maybe I was just missing the scope of the feature request forum, when I was expecting that you, the Plex team, would be a bit more responsive - not in terms of feature delivery time, but in terms of feedback and openness regarding time frames...

I never saw you specifically comment in this thread regarding this feature - I am sorry if you did comment elsewhere...

Great - looking forward to it...

We can't be open about timeframes for these features because there are like 100 of them requested, we don't know which we're doing and in what order, and any timeframe estimate would be a total guess :)

:) I understand, but the [Popular] ones are prioritized, or?

You need to relax.
