Apologies if this isn’t the right forum. It fits into multiple (and I’ve noticed others posting in this forum as well as others about this too, so…).
I’ve found that for months now (I suppose about a year now that I really think about it since I started using the feature) that whenever using shuffle, out of over 1000 artists, I’m frequently hearing the same artists every few songs (roughly 1-in-five songs is a repeat artist). This happens on ALL Plex clients I’ve used (web client, plex home theater, Rasplex, and even Plex Mobile). I’ve also noticed that shuffling an entire tv series (for example, Family Guy) that it tends to play certain episodes much more frequently than others.
I (and a number of others, judging by the few posts I turned up in multiple categories) would love to know why the shuffle algorithm isn’t better designed or hasn’t been tweaked since users identified this quite some time ago. To put it into perspective: I still use Winamp v2.91 (April 16, 2003 version) on my pc. This is over 15 years old and has one of the best shuffle experiences I’ve ever used (iTunes is on par with it too). What can be done to fix this for us? It’s essentially a simple feature that would mean quite a bit to us.
