I have two HDHomeRun Boxes, one a quattro and one a duo. The quattro is setup for OTA is wired into a rooftop antenna. The duo is set to use premium channels and is only wired into the internet.
Each one is in a separate Plex Server on my home network. The issue I am having is that Silicon Dust’s native HD application picks up all 37 channels just fine on the duo but in Plex at least half dozen or more of those channels are pointing to the wrong station. The quattro that uses the antenna and does not list the Premium channels works just fine.
I live in z ip 75248 (Central Time). Plex wants me to use ATT Uverse for the mapping but clearly it does not work accurately,
Has anybody had any luck with this.
There are dozens of threads on this here and on the HDHomerun forums.
you should be able to set your duo to use east coast hdhomerun guide. I’m assuming east coast is the correct guide for central. There is both east and west guides available.
you will have to remove the duo tuner from plex, then re-add it, in order to change the guide.
The problem for most people and plex, is plex does not support BOTH ota and premium guides at the same time (with 1 tuner box).
since you have 2 tuner boxes, you avoid this complication.
When did Plex implement a Premium TV EPG? Last I knew you had to select Comcast (via cable) and manually map the channels, losing whatever local channels your local (by zip code) Comcast guide didn’t include…
premium tv epg has been there for months.
the problem where you have to map channels is when you want both OTA and premium tv with a single device.
plex does not currently support multiple guides.
so you have to choose 1 guide (per tuner device).
Ah right, it’s been so long since I last set it up and I always choose the mapping route…
Thanks. I tried this several different ways and when I get to the point under Plex of choosing a provider ie HD homerun E, Plex reports that there is/was an error connecting to Provider. Any ideas on how to defeat that or how to download that mapping and import into plex.
Thanks.
well sometimes plex gets jacked up when removing and/or re-adding a tuner.
You might have to restart the server and give it some time to process before making any dvr tuner additions/removals.
In any case, to get to the premium tv guide (from what I remember) after plex scans for the channels and attempts to match up a guide, there is an option to manually choose a guide for either OTA or CABLE.
in the drop down should be listed all of the guide/cable providers, which should include the hdhr premium guides.
I posted a detailed walk through on some other thread awhile back, I’ll see if I can find it and link it here.
edit
@michigas see @ HD Home Run and Preium TV guide
As you pointed out I have relegated the duo to the premium service and set it up on a separate Plex server. That duo is not connected to anything but the internet via Ethernet and WiFi. I have setup the duo both as connected to cable and as connected to antenna. Either way the homerun setup recognizes the 37 premium channels. When I go into Plex and delete and then re add the duo to match the HDHomeRun setup of cable or antenna everything chugs along fine until it’s time to chose a guide. There are two HDHomeRun guides one for E (east) one for P (pacific ). Oh they both also have a series of letters vmvpd. When I choose either of the HDHomeRun guides Plex reports that it cannot connect to that source.
hmm, well not sure what to suggest then, I know it worked as of the time I posted on that thread as I was using the trial service.
Not using it currently, but I would suggest keep trying, if they didn’t work for others then I imagine there would be a lot more other people complaining about it.
It could be over soon:
I think I’ll contact silicondust later and see what they say.
After trying and trying Plex finally downloaded the HDHomeRun E guide. You were spot on. Keep trying
Yeah reading how the Omniverse CEO is justifying it. I don’t see this going well and in their favor. If I had the contracts that he is claiming to have and they actually do include the loop holes needed I would be shouting from the roof tops.
Thanks for the FUD. Clearly you know next to nothing about the US court system and even less about this situation in particular. While I thank you for the information you should probably forego any commentary in the future.
Meanwhile, all the Discovery owned channels (except OWN which has its own outage issue) have been re-enabled in the Premium TV service as of about an hour ago.
Are you kidding? He’s claiming that he has magical contracts that allows this but is refusing to show them.
