This post is off-topic. Sorry, guys…Usuasally I use HandBrake for converting videos. iMedia Converter seems to be much faster though when it comes to converting…
I use iFlicks 2. I don’t love the price it’s at now but it works great! I bought it on sale. I was an iFlicks 1 user so I’ve been with them for a while. Anyway, I guess I would still recommend it to those that will use it enough to get the value out of it.
I use iFlicks also works amazing!
How is the look of the app going to be. I Think this app will do very well in the begining because of not having an official Plex app, but after they release I think it will depend on the look and feel. For people like me that are not happy with the current direction of the players this has potential of being a great alternative.
I use iMedia Converter to convert the video to an Apple-friendly format and to populate metadata and poster art. Unfortunately iMedia Converter doesn’t support soft subtitles, so for that I use iSubtitle.
I confirmed iMedia Converter doesn’t support multiple audio tracks. Not an issue for me, but for anyone who requires this I can see how it would be a deal breaker.

Does it support soft subtitles?
Edit: Never mind, just confirmed that it does, but you must obtain the subtitle file on your own.
I use iVI. it brings metadata into it
I really like to use Subler for that. I works great with mutliple audio tracks, subtitles and metadata. And it’s free ![]()
Subler is an Mac OS X app created to mux and tag mp4 files. The main features includes:
- Creation of tx3g subtitles tracks, compatible with all Apple’s devices (iPod, AppleTV, iPhone, QuickTime).
- Mux video, audio, chapters, subtitles and closed captions tracks from mov, mp4 and mkv.
- Raw formats: H.264 Elementary streams (.h264, .264), AAC (.aac), AC3 (.ac3), Scenarist (.scc), VobSub (.idx).
- metadata editing and TMDb, TVDB and iTunes Store support.

One reason I use iSubtitle is because it can actually find the SRT file for me, rather than requiring me to provide my own.
Developers with a dev kit, you can download the final tvOS build now ( https://ipsw.me/AppleTV5,3 ) and get SimpleX on the App Store right now! (Fair warning, I will be changing the name to “Simple X” very soon)
Demo video coming shortly, just finishing up some editing.

Hey, I’m sorry to hear you’re having a problem - it’s worked great for all my testers so far but I guess there’s something different about your server setup I hadn’t figured out. I’d love to work with you to figure out why it’s not working for you, please drop me an email: alex@homegrownsw.com
Hey. Did you try with a Plex Home? That might be the issue?
And I’m on 0.9.12.18

I’ve tested with Plex Home, you do need to login a real Plex account - there’s no way to use managed users in Simple X right now but proper Plex accounts should work fine. Could you describe your user setup in more detail for me, there must be some combination of factors I haven’t accounted for.
Logged in via Pin with the master user of my server. My server is on the same LAN (not remote). When signed in, I click on my server name, it then loads and go back to the first screen.
Same thing when logging with username/pw.
Server 0.9.12.18 on Linux
I apologize for the tone of my first message who was… meaner that it should have been. I was expecting a lot for the app, and kind of bummed to stay locked on the first page.
Please accept my apologies

Apology accepted! I will admit that server selection screen isn’t the prettiest thing in the world, but I was hoping nobody would look at it for more than a few seconds! ![]()
So, for everyone else’s benefit, we’ve tracked the issue down: Simple X doesn’t currently work if you have “Secure connections” set to “Required” in your network settings. I’m working to fix this right now.
@Stevenson-Price ~ I just wanted to extend my congratulations on getting your app written and approved by launch day. Super impressive work!
