single episode TV shows

Hello,

I have a lot of documentaries that consist of just one episode.

Is there anyway I can get Plex to recognize them as TV shows without needing to create a folder for each one?

Regards

Single episode docs may be listed at TMDB: https://www.themoviedb.org/
If so, you can put them in a Movie Library. If the item I have is one I want to keep and it’s a singular item, as a contributor to TMDB I simply add it to the database - it only takes a few minutes.

Singular episodes may already be listed at TVDB, but most of those I find (after exhaustive searches) end up being listed in obscure ‘Shows’ like:
PBS Specials
BBC Documentaries
etc
and as such bear little resemblance to the actual show I have. For instance, ‘Royal Wives at War’ is listed in ‘BBC Documentaries’ and requires a TV Show name and structure matched against TVDB:

A TV Show Library/
…BBC Documentaries/
…Season 2016/
…BBC Documentaries - S2016E08 - Royal Wives at War.xxx

It matches fine, but the trouble is that the ‘BBC Documentaries’ artwork provided from TVDB doesn’t offer a clue as to what is actually contained therein. I’ve had that episode for a year and have never watched it because I forget what ‘BBC Documentaries’ episode that is and as a singular episode it never shows up in On Deck.

I may watch it and delete it (now that I’ve remembered it again), but it may have been better to find or create it at TMDB, or simply name it as a Movie, put it in my ‘Documentaries’ Movies Library along with a suitable poster image named the same as the video file:

A Movie Library/
…Royal Wives at War (2016).xxx
…Royal Wives at War (2016).jpg

If it’s not in TMDB’s database it won’t match, but in a Movies Library it will at least show up with it’s ‘poster’ and I’d be able to find it easier than if it’s buried inside ‘BBC Documentaries’.

A few options to explore.
