I would like all recordings to go to a single library whether it is internally detected as a TV Show or Movie type. The reason is that I have a very curated and read only library for Movies and another for TV Shows that I do not want anyone to introduce new content. I have a “DVR” library where all live TV Shows are being recorded to. I see that sometime the guide suggests a live TV show is a “movie” and limits the library to record to only my read only movie library.
How can I set ALL live TV recordings to go to a single destination?
You can’t. The Plex DVR is implemented such that series must be recorded to a TV Shows-type library and movies must be recorded to a Movies-type library. There may be a feature suggestion (I don’t remember for certain, but this comes up occasionally) suggesting this be changed, but as it is right now you can’t.
You can’t because they use different folder structures and naming. Not mandatory but recommended to keep separate TV/Movie libraries from your regular TV and Movies. Stops accidental deletions and such.
You can create a new library for movie and TV each and name them something else like “DVR Movie" & “DVR TV". When creating the library, point then to a different folder and then on your DVR record option for the show, point it to that library as it will show up as a selectable library.
I named mine as DVR1 & 2, they’re two separate drives. I was going for max storage. After is when I figured out movies won’t go there, do I’ll be changing one of them to Movie type and renaming.
