When I record a football game and decide to start watching the recording while the recording is still in progress, I have issues trying to skip 30 seconds ahead. This has been an issue for several years now and I keep hoping it just gets fixed… it has not.
Basically the problem gets worse the longer you watch. So for any Plex employees that want to duplicate the issue: Set up a recording of a football game. Wait until the game is half over and start watching the recording. After you have watched for a while, you will come to a commercial. Take note of how much time is left in the game before the commercial starts. Let’s say there is 10 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Click the Skip 30 sec button. Maybe click it a few more times. You would expect to come out of the commercial with 10 minutes left in the 1st but instead you find yourself somewhere in the 3rd quarter, much closer to live. It sucks because it spoils the outcome of the game!
Now take note, it doesn’t seem to be as big of a problem when you first start watching… But the longer you watch the recording, the more of a problem it becomes. So lets say you have been watching for an hour, you might click the 30 second skip button once when 2 minutes of commercials start and immediately you find yourself 45 minutes later in the recording.
I haven’t been able to fully detect a pattern on what it is doing but I do know it is all jacked up and it always has been. Doesn’t matter if I am watching on an iOS app, the server, a windows app, the web app… all jacked up.
Here is another thread of the same problem that has been happening forever:
