When watching live tv (after about 90 minutes have buffered) the skip forward or skip back or timeline scrubbing stops working. Attempts to skip forward or back result in arbitrary jumps or take you to the start of the recording. I’ve been able to reproduce this on two apple tv 4ks a iphone 14 pro max and via the web client. plex-media-server-logs-2025-04-26-1745685074422.zip (4.0 MB)
SNL never records right. It either starts at the wrong time, is dropping frames, lip-sync is off., or it’s a rerun (although that isn’t Plex’s fault). The only other thing I record is Late Night w/ Seth Meyers and it always works fine, even though it is also on NBC. Well actually, now the lip-sync issue on direct play is happening to it and all recordings since the last server update.
I just rolled back my server to Version 1.40.5.8897 and now the lip-sync issue for direct play is fixed. Not dropping as many frames on playback either… Hopefully recording is more reliable again too.
At this point, I’m just done updating Plex Server. I don’t want any of the new features they add and they just keep breaking existing things with each release. I feel like if the code was still available people would fork it and be done with the official releases now. Been using Plex for since the XBMC code fork was renamed Plex and got a lifetime plex pass when they first were offered. However, I feel like it might be time to give up on it and go back to XBMC (now called Kodi).
