Skip the channel scan?

Have a Hauppauge wintv hvr 955q hooked up to ubuntu server running plex. everything is good except i cant get it working with my current needs. At the time i need to use my cable box still until i can get a cablecard and device for it. So it will output on the cable box’s coax output, which works fine when i hook the 955q to my windows machine. In plex though it requires a channel scan which does not pick up the channel 3 that the cable box is sending out on. In windows i simply skip a scan on the wintv app and it will allow me to manually add channel 3, and then it displays the live tv correctly.

tl;dr … can you skip the channel scan in plex, and manually add a single channel? or other methods to get this to work correctly.

If you have unencrypted cable channels, then connect the coax directly to one end of the tuner and the USB end of the tuner to the computer that is running Plex server. Plex will then detect the tuner, scan for available, unencrypted channels and work.

If you don’t have unencrypted cable channels, you’re out of luck.

I’m guessing the “Channel 3” output is analog which Plex does not support. Plex only supports digital.
