Skipped Frames while watching through web-server interface

Hello.
I sometime watch my movies directly on chrome, through the Plex Server Web-Interface and it happens quite often that playback stutters and it skips frames to a point ahead.

When using “normal” media players like VLC this isn’t happening.

Anything I should check? Thanks

Have you tried https://app.plex.tv ? it is newer. The stream is likely transcoding as well. a browser cannot play as much as VLC can.

But this isn’t local, right?
Also, I don’t believe it’s transcoding as my CPU is idle.

The interface elements loads up into the browser once but the streams and posters and such come locally from your server.

The dashboard will say if it is transcoding or not.

I see, will try it then.
The dashboard says “Direct Play” (and nothing else), if that’s what you mean.

Can you provide the plex media info xml for the file so I can see if I can find a similar one to test with.

I never watch Plex via the interface but I know exactly what you mean…I’ve seen it myself. A lack of smoothness that doesn’t exist in the original file and it’s not transcoding.

I’ve been trying app.plex.tv for some days now and everything looks smoother than before, even if I am not playing the same content. Thanks
