Afternoon all,
I currently have sky (just the freeview channels) and would like to disconnect the sky box and connect the feed direct to my PC so I can access it through Plex DVR. My question is can you do this with a SKY feed/cable or is it only standard freeview ariels connections that you can use for Plex DVR as with sky you need the viewing card? I was looking at the Hauppauge cards to connect to the PC?
Many thanks
Ray
No currently there are no DVB-S2 supported tuners that are compatible: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/225877427-Supported-DVR-Devices-and-Antennas
There are many DVB-S2 tuners out there that you can connect the feed from sky to get the freesat channels (for example this network tuner: https://www.tbsdtv.com/products/tbs2923-moi-plus.html) but none of them are supported by Plex.
If you buy an enigma2 box you can record satellite with plex through it.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies, very helpful and I thought this was the case. I think I’m going to buy the Hauppauge Win-TV Dual HD and stream my Freeview Ariel to plex plus I can then record programs to Plex as well
Thanks
Ray
You could also use tvh+tvhProxy, much like the enigma solution but work on any kind of Linux PC
