My suggestion refers to Windows platform. It would be substantially easier to implement it there. Of course, you can always run
shutdown -s -t XXX
But that can’t be invoked easily with a remote, and isn’t really an elegant solution.
Also, that’s just shutdown - you’d have to figure out something else to turn off the monitor.
That’s completely different to Android TV, where there’s a native sleep timer function in the TV, and you can easily set it with a remote.
Don’t you realize that I’m asking for something that’s mostly basic functionality?
MPC-HC can play the next file, turn off the monitor, hibernate, shutdown, logoff, lock computer, exit program. VLC has an option to run a command after the playlist.
This is significantly more than a simple timer, but also relatively easy to implement on Windows.
PS: Can’t really distract or cannibalize votes from a post that was created 8 years ago, and didn’t have any replies for the last 2.5 years.
