Photo Slideshow for Apple TV

Photograph Slideshow Enhancement

Quick feature request to add the ability to add photograph slideshows to client apps, and for them to support a few different transitions from one photograph to another together with a variable delay. Suggested transitions could be fade-in/fade-out, Ken Burns effect, page turn simulations, slide-in or out from one side of the screen. These are for single photo to single photo only transitions, nothing overly complex.

Unless I’m missing something, I don’t see any way to show a photo slideshow in the Apple TV 4 app. Hopefully others think this would be a good feature and shouldn’t be too difficult to implement.

Please add me to the numerous requests to implement a basic slideshow feature on the AppleTV and Mobile Clients; For a server who’s advertised feature is serving all sorts of media including PHOTOS; this should be a CORE requirement on all clients… what am I missing here?

It is just ridiculous that slide show is not implemented. Basically Plex is just not usable for photos.
It is a supersample feature to be implemented. Obviously the Plex stuff just do not take care.

Yeah unless Apple specifically prohibited them don’t get why they haven’t I know the Photos app that comes with ATV can do slideshows.Only reason I still have to switch to my Firestick to play a slideshow.

I agree with what others have said; the missing photo slideshow feature really degrades the experience I was hoping for with Synology NAS + PLEX to manage ALL of my media. Support for movies is amazing and it seems like photos need some love to get up to par.

Looking for basic slideshow capabilities in iOS. Specifically:

• Timer settings in seconds before going to next photo
• Toggle to autoplay videos in the same folder
• Ability to play “Live” photos taken with iPhones

I really would like the ability to have a simple slide show. Just so that it at least advances through the photos on its own. I cant believe that this has not been implemented. Or at the very least be able to manually advance to the next photo without having to go back to the list and select the next photo. Maybe just a button that says next.
How do we get this to happen?!?!

On Apple TV you can use the slideshow function in “Computer” app with the Home Sharing option active in iTunes (osx pre-Catalina, ow Windows) or Sharing media in sharing preferences on osx Catalina. But after the TVOS 13.4 upgrade i’ve a problem, the “Computer” app crash when I play music (with Plex or Computer app) while the slideshow goes.

Try and tell me how it goes.

I’d like this function in iOS as well (and expected it when I purchased a plex pass to be able to use iOS devices…). I’d like to be able to use an old ipad as a picture frame showing a photo playlist.

I feel a bit of a fool, because today I bought a lifetime pass, only to discover I can’t play a photo slideshow on my Android tablet. I was hoping to use it as a photo frame in the kitchen, instead of having to use the TV.

If I’d seen this thread, I certainly wouldn’t have bought the Plex Pass. Damn!

I also would like to have a good slideshow. Currently I use Kodi, because there you can adjust the image times and you have the Ken Burns effect (pan+zoom). Please realize that, because using two different programs permanently is not nice. (I’m using Plex on a synology and want to be able to view the pictures everywhere).
