Since the latest update for Plex on Xbox one my films seem to stutter for 3-4 seconds when I start to play them, then fine. Could this be something to do with the Xbox now playing the file rather than a server transcode, the same issue does not happen on IOS when played back on full unlimited quality?
I’m experiencing the same issue. Doesn’t matter if the file is hd or sd, and not limited to one particular file type.

For this people that are having this issue like me did it start with the latest update?
Mine is completely hosed since the update…worked fine for months and months before that. Same server streams (wirelessly) to iOS devices (same content) with absolutely no problems/delays starting up, or starting/stopping issues. Super frustrating
I have noticed some (occasional) stuttering on initial direct play of remote MKVs. Last I checked it was because we’re a little overeager to start playback, and if the client waits until the video player tells us we’re ‘definitely ok to play’, we end up waiting a lot longer, a lot more of the time.
Having said that - would love to know what kind of videos you’re playing, and from where (wired, wireless, local vs remote). If it’s causing frustration then we can look again at trying to fix it.
That explains it then, only noticed it after latest patch on Xbox one.
My files are remote MKV, anything from 5-15gb, I watch on original quality and other than seeing a little stutter at the start occasionally like you say I haven’t had any other issues once that has subsided. I reported it on here as it was something new to me that hadn’t happened before, and I wondered if the stutter would happen again during the movie but this is not the case.
