I am looking for ways to organize my photos, and one feature that that I cannot find is “Smart Libraries”. What I mean by smart libraries is basically a library that collects and displays pictures atutomatically without my explciticly adding a photo to the library. I would then be able to set up my own rules for example based on a set of tags and dates, to control which photos are added.
This is not rocket science and is already available on other media server, but I can not find it here. Am I missing something?
Alternatively if this actually does not exists, I need a way to filter based on a set of tags. Currently it seems as if I can only filter based on one tag at the time.
In Plex, you can create Smart Playlists of music, movies, and videos, and smart “albums” for photos (Photo Albums used to be called “Playlists” as well, but that’s a whole 'nuther discussion).
To create smart albums, you use the filters to specify what you want, then select “Add to album” to create a smart album based on your filters. Once that’s done, any new photos with tags matching your filters will automatically be added to the smart album.
You can use more than one filter if you use the Custom Filters feature. Here’s how:
Now, the Custom Filters only search your manually-added tags - it ignores the Autotags that Plex automatically applies, if you’ve enabled that feature. Why Autotags are not incorporated into the Custom Filters, I don’t know. It may just be something that hasn’t been implemented yet.
There have also been some issues with the Custom Filters, where certain operators weren’t working properly (“is not,” for example). I don’t know if those have been fixed at this time.
