Smart Collections - Advanced Filters missing all popular movie actors, directors, producers etc

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685
Player Version#: 4.145.1 (Plex Web - is this what this means???)

When I installed Plex 4 or 5 years ago I spent a lot of time organising my movies into Smart Collections that use advanced filters - e.g. “Match any of” Director is Alfred Hitchcock / Producer is Alfred Hitchcock / Writer is Alfred Hitchcock.

These worked really well (and some of them had up to 6 filters) but now I find most of my collections are empty and instead of seeing people such as Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson (and absolutely stacks of others) the filter field just shows a number and when I try to reset the name to the correct one, they are simply not in the filters - these seem to be filled with people I’ve barely or never heard of.

So here are just some of my many smart collections - some of them work but most are empty:

If I choose the Alfred Hitchcock one and edit the filters, we can see that a) there is just a number there (where does this come from?) and b) “Alfred Hitchcock” does not show in the list:

So does anyone know what’s going on here? Is this some sort of copyright issue or has something changed in Plex around creating smart collections?

Try refreshing metadata for one or more movies where you know Alfred Hitchcock was producer/director/writer. Then, see if you’re able to select him in those roles in your filters.

If it works, you might then need to refresh metadata for the entire library.

What scanner/agent combo are you using for the library, by the way?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Turned out something had happened on my last PC restart and my movies drive had changed it’s drive letter which I hadn’t noticed. Setting it back to the original drive letter and rescanning the library seems to mostly fix it, though I do have to go back into some of the collections and changing the numbers back to the people involved.
