Smart collections disappearing? "destroying metadata"?

I noticed my smart collections on both my tv and movie library had gone missing. I restored from a backup, and restored the smart collections, but now just noticed them missing again. why is it doing this?

update: here’s some info from the logs. why is it “destroying metadata”?

I don’t know collections well enough to offer anything, but I wanted to ask that you restart the PMS, and then after 10min or so go and Settings -> Troubleshooting -> Downloads Logs and drop the zip file into your reply, so that we can see how PMS starts up and look for anything obvious.

Are you saying the collection gets deleted so that now there’s any empty collection? Or does the collection itself get deleted? What are the rules that create this collection? If I created one, what are the simplest steps to reproduce?

Has PMS crashed completely so that the app isn’t running? Have you ever had to Force Quit PMS?

Smart lists are designed to be dynamic and adjust the list results over time, and I figure you know that because you use them and that you’re not here saying a track was removed why?!?!?

Your log snippet shows that there was a request from M1-Mac-mini.local to delete the collection, so the fact that the collection is getting removed makes sense.

Although I’m not entirely sure what you’re seeing, and also a small log snippet doesn’t paint a full picture.

ugh. it was a buggy version of plex meta manager. updating fixed it.
