Smart Crash Reports

Every time I run Plex it asks me if I want to install SCRs. Even though I choose NO and check the box to not ask again, I will get the same dialog again on the next launch. Could somebody look into this? It’s a slight annoyance but obviously something isn’t working right.

Thanks.

I also get this on my MBP. My iMac doesn’t bug me since it has SCR installed.

Sounds like a bug for sure since we are choosing NO in the dialog…

Unfortunately that would be an SCR bug :frowning:

However, Plex is happy to help you work around the problem. Create the following empty directory:

/Library/InputManagers/Smart Crash Reports/Smart Crash Reports.bundle

And Plex will never ask SCR to do anything ever again!

thanks, it’s quite a pain to get up off the couch to go mouse click everytime i start up plex

Woot!! Thanks for the tip...

What he said... ;)

I just wanted to add that this worked great for me after one correction: Create the folders /Library/InputManagers/Smart Crash Reports/ and then create a FILE called Smart Crash Reports.bundle since .bundle is an invalid name for a folder.

Just to make things crystal clear for anyone using this workaround.

Thanks again…

Actually, folders ending with .bundle _is_ a valid name for them, and when the Input Manager is looked for it _expects_ to find a folder. The Finder in OS X makes directories that end in .bundle _look_ like a file, when they are actually a directory. The same thing happens for other bundles like .app for applications.

Oh thank goodness for the workaround. That bug is hella annoying!!!

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, I am having the same issue with the update windows.

Everytime I start Plex it asks me in in a small pop-up if I wanted to check for updates manually or automatically.

No matter what I click, the windows keeps appearing every time i start plex.

is there a workaround for this?

thanks in advance

EDIT: A restart after installation solved the problem. Maybe we should put that in the wiki, since not everyone restarts his mac after a software installation. Thanks

Thank goodness for this fix!

One thing I have noticed though is that every so often in Console.app I get messages like this:
