Smart Playlists are not updating after creation

I have created a number of custom filters using multiple criteria. My end goal is to be able to create dynamic playlists that protect my kids from music with explicit language. Here is what I did and what I am experiencing:

  • I created an Album Collection titled “Explicit”
  • I added all of the albums with profanity to that collection.
  • I went to my Music library and loaded the following criteria:
** Track Rating is greater than 3 stars
** Album Genre is not “Christmas”
** Album Collection is not “Explicit”
  • The filter works perfectly and I add that to a playlist called 4 Start Family.

Now, If I add an album that is currently not in the Explicit collection that collection after I create the playlist, those tracks are still showing up in the playlist.

What am I missing? Do I need to refresh something in the Server or is there a bug here? I am also tried reordering my criteria or removing the Christmas requirement (just trying to save those for the holidays). Nothing works.

If I recreate the custom filter, the newly added albums and their tracks are excluded as I would expect.

Help.

Are you sure you created a Smart Playlist? Do you see the gear icon when looking at it?

Yes, I can see the gear. Interestingly, I have a smart playlist for any tracks that don’t have a star rating. That one only has one criteria (Track Rating is empty), and that one updates properly whenever I give a track a rating.

It looks like the multiple criteria are not working.

Have you tried refreshing the playlist page after making the change?

How do you refresh the playlist page?

I meant refreshing the web page. I’ve seen cases where the browser will cache the playlist so even after making changes, viewing the playlist still shows the old cached list. Refreshing the web page will cause the browser to update.
