I have a smart playlist set up for unwatched episodes of specific TV shows. During the mid-season break, these the playlist amounted to about 5 hours of running time. Since some of these shows have returned after mid-season, new episodes have been added to the playlist, taking it up to about 7 hours of running time.
During the break:
- The playlist in the Playlists listing shows the running time as 5 hours.
After new episodes were added:
- The running time still displayed 5 hours on the Playlists listing in the web interface and my iOS client.
- When accessing the playlist on the iOS client, the running time still displayed 5 hours.
- When accessing the playlist in the web interface, the running time recomputed and correctly displayed 7 hours.
What’s happening is that the length of a Smart Playlist isn’t being recomputed until it’s accessed in the web interface. I think that PLEX should have a scheduled task that periodically recomputes the length of Smart Playlists so that it’s accurately indicating the running time of the playlist without the user having to access it through the web interface.
