Smart Shuffle Suggestion

I have downloaded the latest version of the PMS today and was pleased to see that a new feature called “Smart Playlist Preference” was added. When looking at the tic box in the server settings I notice its labeled as “Smart shuffling prefers highly rated, popular and less recently heard tracks.”

I have yet to test it bout to see if there is a difference, but maybe a suggestion would be to hav some pull down criteria and let the server owner have a bit more control over the algorithm?

For instance, when choosing artist radio, perhaps the server admin. could invoke a larger percentage loaded into the playlist of the artist radio that’s being listen to … say 40%, 50% and so on. That way when choosing Beatles Radio I could hear more then a few Beatles songs in the list when its built.

Also perhaps a setting for least heard and not so popular songs.

From someone who has close to 120k worth of songs in their library, it would be NOT to hear the same songs over and over when shuffling. Take for example Led Zeppelin … I would prefer to hear a lesser known song, then Stairway To Heaven every time I make a smart playlist or listen to Led Zeppelin radio.

Thanks in advance for time

Cross Post. I think you could probably achieve what you want if they had “Similar Artist” as a filter for the Smart Playlist. Since the list would only have the criteria of Similar Artist you should end up with some more lesser known songs than the Artist Radio provides.
