Trying to play video from my computer to PLEX on my TV. Have the PLEX TV channel and see my computer but keep getting the message “Desktop is currently unavailable. Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection.” Ok, I’m on my desktop and signed in to PLEX here. Tried suggested changing settings to search for my network connection, but I get nothing…nada. Nothing shows. I’m stuck and utterly lost.
Just for clarification…
did this work before for you or are you trying to get it to work for the first time?
do you have the Plex Media Server app installed and running on your desktop?
if so, which version?
First time. Have Plex Media Server 1.18.3.2156…
Let’s take it one step at a time.
Let’s try to eliminate the obvious problems, try accessing plex from your PC server
(goto http://localhost:32400/web or http://127.0.0.1:32400/web or https://app.plex.tv/desktop)
If you can successfully see your server online and all medias can be played, then try going to server’s Settings -> Network. at the top, there’s a “Secure Connections” set this to “Preferred”.
Using your same Admin user account, try accessing it locally to your TV, if that stil does not work even after everything, and if you’re using Windows PC, try to temporarily disable windows firewall.
