I recently set up plex and everything ran fine. I added more movies and need to import them and Plex wont run on my pc. No error messages, it just doesnt load. I uninstalled/reinstalled, no change. I cant access any of my new files until i can get plex to load.
What do you mean it doesn’t load?
- Is the Plex Media Server app is running?
- Can you access it through your browser?
- locally (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re using a browser on the same machine; http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web otherwise
- online via http://app.plex.tv/desktop
i type PLEX into my search tolls (windows), “plex app” comes up. Nothing happens. the end."
This is how i accessed it previously without issue
What happens if you try via Plex Web?
- http://127 .0.0.1:32400/web <-- if on the same system as Plex Media Server
To obtain the IP address of your server, open a CMD window on the server (type CMD in the search box) and enter ipconfig <enter/return>. Look for the line that says IPv4 Address. It will be something similar to 192.168.1.2, 10.0.0.2, etc. Use that number in the https:// statement above.

i should add that ever since the plex app stopped working, i cant access any movies on the plex on my tv. it says server unavailable. yes the direct link via http works, so I was able to reload my new flicks, but i still cant access plex on my tv. “server unavailable” its like w/o the app on my pc working correctly, the plex on my tv cant see my files
Plex Media Server version? Server Settings -> General. 1.17, 1.18, etc.
Server -> Network settings for:
- Secure connections
- Disable weak TLS versions
TV make & model?
Plex client version? Authorized Devices
Make sure Plex Server settings align with those in the TV app.
If you’re using an older set, especially an older Samsung, non-Tizen model, Uncheck “Disable weak TLS version” (you want weak TLS enabled), set Secure Connections = Preferred, save changes, and restart your Plex Media Server. Older Samsungs use a app that is no longer supported and not compatible with stronger TLS settings.
Regarding Plex for Windows, completely uninstall / re-install the application.
See Plex for Windows/Mac Desktop docs -> Introduction & Installation.
- Uninstall the app from your PC via Control Panel -> Programs and Features.
- Delete
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex, ex:c:\users\username\AppData\Local\PlexIf present, do not deletePlex Media PlayerorPlex Media Serverfolders. - Restart PC
- Download & install current version of Plex for Windows Desktop from plex.tv/download.
Note AppData is usually hidden. You may have to choose View -> Hidden Items in Windows File Explorer to see it.
As with TV client, make sure secure connections settings align with your Plex Media Server settings.
as I said, the app (on the tv) worked fine when the app on the pc worked. As soon as the pc stopped, so did the tv. So the issue is not on the tv end.
no such folders exist. I did try unistalling and rebooting before reinstalling and it did jack spit.
Does anyone know how to get ACTUAL support because “asking randos in the forums” is not support.
just caught the “view/hidden” part of your response. now i see it. only folder in there that says plex is the plex media server folder.
