SOLVED see below.
Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#: 5.27.3
During 2020 and part of 2021 I could playback TrueHD 7.1 mkv files just fine but last days these movies that played ok try to do a full transcode from HEVC to H264. Obviously this is a bug as my TV has Dash protocol and it was able to just transcode the audio stream to AC3 and playback just fine. Now the truehd audio tries to transcode but in the end it just tries to transcode the full movie, failing in the process and cancelling the playback.
I’m really frustrated that without doing anything Plex just starts failing, I mean my playback with this TV was seamless and I was glad that I didn’t have the issues I had with my Chromecast, or with my new Samsung TV that doesn’t support dash and DTS. This TV worked flawlessly and now its failing just like anything else that has a Plex app and its not a Nvidia Shield.
Please let me know how can I rollback the Plex version from my Samsung please.

PS: DTS Works just fine even DTS-MA when DCA is enabled. So the only issue here is with TrueHD 7.1 which needs to be transcoded to EAC3 and it fails to do so with the new client version.

PS: DTS Works just fine even DTS-MA when DCA is enabled. So the only issue here is with TrueHD 7.1 which needs to be transcoded to EAC3 and it fails to do so with the new client version.
SOLVED
Context:
I’m running Plex behind a reverse proxy (Traefik + Docker). Plex is configured so it exposes the URL to plex.tv (https://myplexurl.com:443). This URL is then retrieved by the Samsung Plex client and is used for streaming.
I have to say this configuration has been working and I didn’t have any issues playing back whatever kind of movie I threw at it. True HD, Atmos, DTS-MA, 4K HDR everything worked flawlessly.
Looks like an update of the Client APP has introduced some kind of modification on how the transcoded chunks are retrieved from the server. This caused that Plex only worked if Direct Play was enabled, but if Direct Stream was needed then it didn’t work at all.
Solution
If you are running Plex under a reverse proxy you’ll have to expose port 32400 and make plex available publicly. Unfortunately is the only solution that I’ve found.
