Hello, I recently switched from my 2014 samsung TV (UE48H5500) to 2021 Samsung TV (QE55QN95) which means I switched from very old Plex player (version 2. something) to the newest one available for Tizen TV. It was looking great, the overall smoothness and system speed, but unfortunately, I am NOT able to play anything that is not H.264.
To give you a bit of detail, I have very low-performance server Synology DS215j, which is not able of transcoding anything. However, it has never been issue for my old tv and old plex while direct-playing. On my new TV, anything that is avi or H.265 either gets “unknown error” or it buffers every 3 seconds, which means it is not usable. I can somehow play videos if I change the video quality to the lowest one possible, but it is not a solution.
I tried changing the Plex server version on my Synology, I tried checking and un-checking those “allow direct streaming” and “allow direct playing” tickboxes in the app, I switched from wifi to cable and back, but nothing is working. It cannot be a network issue, as any other content on the tv (IPTV, Netflix, Youtube) works flawlessly.
If I turn on the old tv with old Plex, everything works in this very moment, which makes me extremely frustrated.
In the old Plex app, I was able to manually set buffer values, which I had and it was working fine, I didnt have any buffer-related issues there, only the videos were starting a bit longer.
I understand one solution would be to convert everything I have to h.264 - which is a lot of work, another would be to use my Xbox for Plex (which I dont prefer, since I have to use another controller), the last one to build a better server capable of transcoding, but why, if it used to work with the old app.
Any help would be appreciated!
Done, with the latest version of the PMS, it doesnt even go to buffer the videos, it immediately says “unknown error” whereas the older PMS let it buffer for a while.

The thing is that this very file works flawlessly when I open it on my old TV with Plex client 2.0. With this one, I am not able to play any of this. Would it help if I played the file on the old TV and sent you the debug file? You should be able to see that it is working there.
I’m sorry, but the never Samsung TV’s doesn’t support Codec DivX and as such, PMS has to transcode, but can’t due to lack of CPU

All I can suggest, is either reencode your medias, get a PMS Server with a faster CPU, or get like NVidia Shield and use that as a player connected to your TV
Thank you for this list, it is very interesting, I can see that 2015 Samsung TV used to support DivX and 2021 doesn’t. May I ask for the reason behind that? Is it HW/SW or copyright?
And another question, I have troubles playing files which should be supported according to the page (HEVC and WEBM VP8) see below the details of them. What could be the reason?
