I recently got invited into a plex home setup of a friend. Since I also have my own server, I log in with my own account and not the home account, but plex still wants me to choose the user (of that plex home) and enter my pin, which is really annoying. Is that designed to be that way? Or is there a way to get around it? On my players it doesn’t bother me since I can just save the pin, but on the web version there is no such thing, I always have to choose my user and enter my pin.
EDIT (SOLVED): Since this is already closed, I’ll just edit the first post for people wanting to know: It has been fixed. You now (don’t know since when) can login to your Plex Web and get the pin saved so you don’t have to reenter the pin on Plex Web everytime you visit. That way you can also use url’s that direct you to specific shows.
This option is now found in the settings under “General”. Set “Automatically sign in” to profit
Think twice before joining someone else’s Home if you have your own server!
Joining a Home will activate Fast User Switching, which means other users in that home can switch and ‘become’ you, if they guess your pin correctly. You do have a pin set, right?
Each official Plex client has a preference called ‘Automatic Logon’ which, when activated, recalls the last logged-in user on a particular client. This will deactivate the constant requests to select the user and input the pin.
First off, thank you for the quick response. Well, I knew that with the clients as I mentioned it myself.
But why am I required to sign in via the Fast User Switching feature if I use my own account, which is bound to one of those users in that home (using plex web). I understand that someone would like the user to be changable, but in that case I would just use that home account.
I don’t think it should be handled that way.
Edit: You would also want to use the home account since that way you get your clients licensed.
