Server Version#: 1.24.2.4973
OK, so I apologize for the length of this post in advance but thought it necessary to detail everything that transpired before I noticed the problem.
I have a local server for for my home viewing (mostly from the Xbox, but occasionally from a HiSense TV running VIDAA) and everything was working fine until 2 nights ago when we had a power outage just before midnight. We only noticed this in the morning when the time and date on the Xbox was wrong. 11 y/o didn’t bother correcting the date so tried opening Plex. The WiFi was still down so Plex was offline and refused to see my home server. To remedy this, I enabled DLNA and we could watch our TV shows and movies from Movies & TV.
When I eventually corrected the date, the Plex app on the Xbox could finally see the local server. We continued with TV shows we needed to catch up on. Then when we decided to watch a movie, Cruella, the Xbox reported that trascoding had failed. This was odd because the Xbox plays everything via DirectPlay or DirectStream (see dashboard screenshot showing Thor currently playing). When I tried other movies, the same thing was reported.
I then went directly to the laptop that runs the Plex Media Server and tried to play Cruella from there in my browser. It showed the background image when buffering but the name at the bottom was “Finding Dory”. I cancelled and tried again, this time the name displayed was “Chicken Little” (see following screenshot). I tried those movies and they all showed a random other movie and still didn’t play. It’s notable also that the duration on these movies was around a couple of minutes.
Thinking the metadata had been messed up I checked file info and it was pointing to the correct movies. I opened the hard drive with the files and played them directly. They played correctly in my local player so it wasn’t the file. I then updated the server to the version mentioned at the top of my post but the problem persisted. The only movies that played correctly on the Xbox or in the browser were those that were listed under “Continue Watching”… any other movie just won’t work.
The other libraries are unaffected, TV Shows, Music, and a custom one called Liverpool in which I place Liverpool FC games are all working correctly. I’m stumped and out of ideas. Please assist.
