Server Version#: Version 1.43.3.10828
Player Version#: All?
Hey everyone, I’m trying to diagnose an issue with my Plex server.
Essentially any client that has already signed in continues to work normally, both locally and remotely. However, any new session (for example an incognito/private browser, or a newly installed Plex app) shows either an empty home screen, no available servers, or sometimes a spinning circle as if attempting to log in.
As the server owner when I attempt to do this via a new session I can recreate the issue and can’t access or manage my server.
If I temporarily enable unauthenticated access for local IPs, clients with new sessions can connect and watch content, so the server itself appears to be running and not the issue.
I’m mainly trying to determine whether anyone else is experiencing this behaviour? I’m thinking it has something to do with the Plex API issues as Im seeing 500 errors on the clients.plex.tv endpoint but I cant seem to see any update about if it’s still ongoing?
I have reset your server certificate. Please stop and restart your Plex server now.
Thanks, but that has not resolved the issue unfortunately.
Edit: If it helps the error I am seeing is a 500 error on clients.plex.tv/api/v2/resources
I’m getting something similar. Can access my server from my nvidia shield but either cant login through web browser on laptop or if I can login my libraries are not there
I have something similar. I cannot access my Plex server on the internal network from the XBox Series X client. I get that it is “currently unavailable.” Plex for iOS correctly connects.
Hey @BigWheel , sorry to randomly tag you in a post but I saw you’re a Plex employee. Is there someone I can reach out to to get them to look into my account?
It looks like @SHELLTHIEF and @aaronsanson posts here are experiencing something similar:
no worries
I don’t see anything wrong with your account from a quick look. I did notice that you and the other two accounts @aaronsanson and @SHELLTHIEF all appear to be in NZ with the same ISP.
I’m guessing this has something to do with IPv6 but not sure yet.
@BigWheel no luck when disabling IPv6. Any thoughts on the 500 error I’m getting from the Plex API?
I’ve also tried connecting through the Plex app (Android & Web) via multiple different networks (Different ISPs) and still get the same outcome. Android app results in a spinning circle, web app sometimes authenticates but doesn’t have my server, just an empty dashboard.
Note remote access was working flawlessly up until Friday last week. What’s also interesting is my managed profile can access it remotely with no issues.
@itzPebkac I’m getting this same error from that same endpoint when I attempt to access Plex.
Huh okay, thanks @SHELLTHIEF . Hey @BigWheel is there anywhere/anyone you can direct us? It’s now a week where I can’t remotely connect to my server…
Hey sorry we have been trying to figure out cause.
First thought was that is may be a DNS issue since all of you seem to be on the same ISP. In which case i would suggest trying Google DNS or Cloudflare Public DNS
The other is a previous issue a few folks ran into that seemed similar but was a different account type. I found an old issue where something with Roku login linked to account was somehow causing the 500 error with clients.plex.tv. All that needed to be done was to remove the linkage then re add it if desired.

to make sure you can still get in. if you don’t have a regular Plex Password on your account you can add one on your account page. https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account ( note you cannot remove a Plex Password once added but can change it)
-
To remove the Google Auth linkage go to https://clients.plex.tv/users/other-services where there should be a button to so.
-
To Re add you can also do so on your account page https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account under Linked Accounts or If you Plex account has the same @gmail.com email then you can just sign in with the Continue with Google option on sign in page.
Hey @BigWheel all good. I have tried this, and I have removed my only linked account (Google). But alas when when logging in via https://app.plex.tv I am still presented with no servers (Mine or Others), and the 500 error.
What is interesting is it is now triggering a constant “Your credentials have expired. Please sign in again.” error. I have reset my password in attempt to see if that will give it a kick, but no luck.
Hey @BigWheel, is there any update on this. As the request is 500 ing it is clearly hitting plex’s servers. Sorry if I come across short. I am starting to get frustrated.
Sorry i do not have an update the dev teams are still looking into it. Looks like they put a Hight priority tag it today
I’m told a fix for this was deployed this morning. You may need to restart things but please let us know if things are working
Amazing! Yes thank you! May I ask what the issue was in the end?
A bit over my head honestly but something to do with IPv6 zone index causing a InvalidURIError .
