[SOLVED] Won't add DVR (HDHomerun) even though it is found, endless loop in logs

I am trying to add a DVR and it is finding it but it just loops over and over and over without actually adding it…this is what loops:

I would assume there is a broken entry in SOME database in plex somewhere but I don’t know how to track that down. Any assistance would be appreciated. The DVR was working (kinda) as one point some weeks ago, but since it has disappeared and now I can’t add it back in.

Thanks in advance for looking at this. Any response would be greatly appreciated I know how busy you all are. It looks like I am not the only person to have encountered this issue.

also when I try to add manually I get: There was a problem adding the device: 192.168.0.8
same as this issue which doesn’t look like it was ever solved:

It’s there, I see it being recognized in the logs before I manually put in the IP, but there appears to be some bug or some data corruption in one of the DB’s somewhere. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Ted

One more piece of information:

In the log it looks like it is running a test on itself:

Jun 01, 2019 13:11:19.652 [0x7fedfaffd700] DEBUG - DVR:Device: Device device://tv.plex.grabbers.tunerservice/dvb%23hdhr%2310384275 was already known, refreshing database info

Jun 01, 2019 13:11:20.074 [0x7fedfaffd700] DEBUG - HTTP 200 response from GET http://127.0.0.1:32600/devices/dvb%23hdhr%230%23272122485

The http://127.0.0.1:32600/devices/dvb%23hdhr%230%23272122485

returns:

<MediaContainer size="1"><Device key="dvb%23hdhr%230%23272122485" title="HDHomeRun 10384275 (192.168.0.8) - 0" status="alive" protocol="livetv" uri="http://192.168.0.8:80" make="Silicondust" model="hdhomerun3_atsc" modelNumber="HDHR3-US" uuid="device://tv.plex.grabbers.tunerservice/dvb%23hdhr%2310384275" interface="network" tuners="1"><Tuner index="0" status="idle"/></Device></MediaContainer>

…this again leads me to believe that it is registered somewhere in one of the databases BUT not in everything it needs to be, I am sure there is some cleanup that I need to do?

The links you provided make it sound like you are using a plugin or a community supported solution.

Do you have a HDHR Prime? and if so did you update the firmware to Release 20190417?

Due to guide data issues, Plex has recently stopped supplying the information in certain locations.

Better way to grab and upload the logs for troubleshooting.

Hello Tiebierius,

Sorry, those were just the links I found that had similar messages, I didn’t mean to confuse the issue…just plex no third party plugins etc (That I am aware of). I have an HDHR3

I downloaded the most recent firmware I could find so this is where I am at now

Model: HDHR3-US
Firmware: 20170930

Please let me know if that helps?

Thank you for taking time to read the post and providing your thoughts.

Best,
Ted

Does it work with the HDHR apps? Try a browser and go to http://my.hdhomerun.com/

If all that checks out, delete the DVR from settings>live tv/dvr . Shutdown Plex and delete the guide database files. If you are using the default location it should be:

/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases

3 files matching:

tv.plex.providers.epg.*.db
tv.plex.providers.epg.*.db-shm
tv.plex.providers.epg.*.db-wal

Restart Plex and add the DVR.

Ok got it, a channel scan is required outside of plex first. Grabbed the software (no linux software boo) did the channel scan now plex can add this dvr.

Thanks for the advice pointer to try the hdhomerun software first.

Best,
Ted
