I found the pokemon episodes recently and after several months/years of using plex without much problem. I see that after downloading these episodes, plex does not recognize them.
I tried to find the problem: the folder is accessed by plex, the series is separated into separate folders by season, the files are correctly named (Pokemon / Season 01 - The Indigo League / Pokemon S01E01 - The departure. mp4). I tried to re-encode the video with third party software to see. I also update the server version…
None of this solved my problem.
Additionally, the person who shared the series has no issues with plex.
Do you have an idea?
Do you download directly into the folders which were added to Plex libraries?
If you do: don’t.
To fix this, I recommend the following:
edit your tv shows library (you are trying to add this series to a Plex library of the type “TV Shows”, right?)
Go to the “Advanced” tab and ensure that the checkbox “Prefer local meta tags” is empty.
Hi,
Thanks for your response !
No I download in an other folder, and manually I move the files into the good folder in the plex library

No, I added Pokemon in a specific folder named “cartoon” I made a test to add the first episode in the folder tv shows library/“pokemon”/“season 01” and it works !
Then, if I add this cartoon to a personnal folder Plex cannot read it ?
Every Anime with episodes is a “TV Show” in the Plex nomenclature.
Just like a regular series.
It can only get metadata when added to a Plex library of the type “TV shows”.
You cannot mix series and movies in the same library.
Don’t even try to work around that – it’ll only lead to frustration.
You will be needing two different, separate libraries for animation-type content. One for the series, and one for one-off titles (i.e. “movies”).
