I’ve seen many threads about this issue, some resolved in different ways, some never resolved (afaik), but nothing I’ve seen and tried seemed to have helped my situation.
Precursors - I do NOT have plex plus, and I’m very noob in the different codecs and formats that would make one mkv different to another mkv and so on.
I used to run my Plex server on my pc, and I never had an issue streaming to my ps4.
I got a Synology DS218+ a few months ago, and since then, some files stop to buffer every couple of seconds. It seems to be 1080 files. If I change the quality of the file during playback to 2Mbps 720p, I get no stutter but of course the video doesn’t look as good.
The NAS’ cpu usage does seem to go right up to ~99% when I’m streaming, so with that symptom in mind I think I’ve seen that using hardware acceleration normally helps, but I want to make sure that that would actually solve my issue before spending money if possible. So I was hoping to get some deeper feedback into my issue.
I would’ve attached logs to this post, but as I’m using the PS4 as the player, I’m not sure how I would get it, if at all possible.
