Some HD Video only streams the Audio & no video on newer devices.

Hi all,

I’m new to Plex and I hope I’m posting this in the correct area. Apologies if not.

I seem to have an issue with some HD videos, only streaming the audio and no video content.

My media server is installed on Linux. The issue occurs when streaming HD video with Dolby Digital Audio that was recorded in .ts format.

Here in Australia, Channel 9 broadcast HD with Dolby Digital Audio 5.1. I have recorded a few shows from this channel and when I go to stream the recordings off my iPhone, MacBook, AppleTV, and Windows PC, I can hear the audio from the show, however I do not get any video. I simply get the still image of the show while the file plays back the audio.

When I live stream channel 9 though, it works fine - I get both the video and audio.

However, the interesting thing is, on my very old iPad, the issue does not occur and the videos will stream with the Audio.

I don’t know but it has anything to do with the Dolby Digital side?

SBS HD (Another Free to air Australian channel) that is HD, recorded in .ts format and the audio is MP2 streams perfectly on all devices.

I’ve attached a few images of the streaming on my devices.

That seems a little odd. Let me see if I can reproduce with Channel 9 when I’m home.

Thanks DaveBinM, I should also note that this is on both Wifi and Telstra Cell that it wont stream the Nine Recording. The iPad is only on Wifi.

When watching the file on the HDD through the network in VLC, the file appears fine.
