Some Moves and TV Shows Don't Show Up In Plex

In general, Plex works well but for a small subset of my media, Plex is not able to identify it and make it available:

  • The Movies library has 1070 movie folders within, but Plex shows 1001
  • The TV Shows library has 71 TV show folders within, but Plex shows 66

For one of the TV shows I recently added, I renamed the folder so include the TVDB id in curly braces but even after a scan it still doesn’t show up in Plex.

Two questions:

  1. How can I quickly identify which movies and shows aren’t getting picked up by Plex?
  2. What can I do to get them in Plex? (either manually or automatically)

basic checks:

  1. change the order to anything but By Title and check the item count. This way, Plex won’t group items which are part of a collection.
  2. filter the library for Duplicates to identify items that have multiple files associated to them
