Plex UI not displaying content

Okay, so I have a folder that is not showing up in the Plex UI. I know, I know – follow the proper naming conventions … I’ve seen all those posts too … and this isn’t that … let me explain …

According to my Linux Shell, in the directory “/opt/media/tv.shows” I have 144 folders:

This pastebin link contains the actual directory listing, and as you’ll see, I am following the proper (suggested) naming conventions.

Despite this, the Plex UI is showing 143 shows. For an unknown reason, its leaving out ‘Star Trek (1966) {tvdb-77526}’, I can’t figure out why.

In order to track down if this was a Plex thing or a Plex UI thing, I took a backup of the database, and then interrogated that offline copy with this Python script … it showed:


--> /opt/projects/plexigator/venv/bin/python /opt/projects/plexigator/plexigator.py
All local folders are recognized by Plex.

All Plex TV shows are present in local folders.

So, Plex sees the folder – but why isn’t it shown in the UI ?!?

I’m really confused, and I would greatly appreciate some help in understanding what’s going on.

This is a screenshot, showing the entire “S” section of the TV Shows library … no “Star Trek” the original series. :frowning:

More proof that it sees the show. Now I’m even more confused.

Set the library display mode to “Episodes”.
Then enable the Duplicates filter. Are there any? If so, look at the plex media info of them.

Do also check if there are Collections in your tv show library.
If for instance, you have both the original series and TNG, and they have been added into the same collection, you might not see a poster for each.
A quick test for this is to change the sorting order of the library from Title to something else, then look at the item count.

This issue is resolved … although I don’t know why …

I moved the folder outside the library, re-scanned, emptied trash, and set the library to “Hide Collections, but display their items”. I emptied bundled and optimized the database.

I moved the folder back in and upon the automatic re-scan it immediately showed up.

Why?
