Some movies not rendering on Plex client but are okay viewing locally

A family member complained that some of the Christmas movies I put in Plex last year were showing a black screen but played audio and others that will not start at all although they can be selected to be played. They are using Apple TV. I checked the movies out they were complaining about with my own Plex iOS client and indeed they are right. I can replicate the issues myself.

However, If I go to the Windows 10 PC these are hosted on and play them with native Windows 10 “movies & TV” app they play just fine. There are dozens and dozens of movies that are like this now. These are movies in an .MP4 format as all my files are.

Anyone have an idea what could be wrong? It is a very powerful top-of-the-line Windows 10 PC that is dedicated to just serving up Plex movies.

There are definitely some issues with the ATV player :stuck_out_tongue: One thing to try is to go into the Plex app settings and turn of Direct Play and see if that helps.
