I have a HDD attached to my Mac and accessing PLEX through my ROKU TV. I refreshed the LIBRARY and have moved the files in question in and out but they are in my HDD folder and they play fine on my mac so I know the files are not damaged. When I drag them to a folder, they simply are in/on my HDD but they do not show up on PLEX on my ROKU TV. Hundreds of other movies/TV shows show up fine but not these. They are the same file format as hundreds of others - .m4v.
How are the files named?
It is important they follow the proper naming convention in order to get picked up by the scanners and added to the library:

How are they named exactly?
i have the same problem once in a while. I currently have 2 movies that are named the same with different release years (1999) and remake (2016). I follow the naming convention of movies/folder/title(year).ext. Normally i don’t seem to have a problem, but I can’t get this most recent movie to show up in my library and it is not stacked with the original version.
– sorry, I can’t delete only edit my post. I finally figured out the problem. the movie that didn’t show up was missing the (.) before the extension. I missed that. rather random mistake.
