I have a music folder on one of my drives… Currently there is 851 GB of music. 98 % is lossless FLAC. I noticed that some albums won’t get indexed. Why? I don’t know how many albums (or if it’s a coincidence) since I just noticed it… I have “… But Seriously” by Phil Collins bought at HDtracks. Even if I “update” PLEX it won’t get indexed. But other albums from HDTracks has been included. I been thinking if I need to start divide the content in different folders? Maybe the folder is too big? Are there any limits?
Files: 34 000
Format: NTFS
Structure: Music -> Artist -> Album -> Tracks
There are no limits.
But folders starting with ... will be ignored. So for this particular example, rename the folder on disk so its name doesn’t start with the dots.
You can retain the correct album title ...But Seriously in the meta data though, so it appears correctly within Plex.
I assume your music is properly organised into Artist/Album/Tracks subfolders?

That made the thing. The dots… Thank you. So there are no maximum files per folder?
I was reading “The file limit per folder in NTFS is 65,534”. I have still a lot (!) of CD’s vinyl to rip… as well as another older digital library on my previous computer to forge. It might take some time but I will probably pass that border sooner or later.

Maximum number of files per folder should not be an issue if you have a proper folder structure
Artist/Album/Tracks
If you stick to that, you’ll never reach the number.
Folder on disk and
folder within Plex (which many people mistake for ‘Plex libraries’)
are different things.
