Hi, this is the second time I write with the hopes someone will be able to help me. For a couple months now I’ve been unable to get these movies to display their posters at all. If I try to change them it doesn’t work and the interface feels painfully slow. Every movie I uploaded before these is showing everything as it should and so are my TV Shows. I’'ve already tried changing the metadata agents with no luck whatsoever. I’m desperate to find a solution. Thanks.
Hi ChuckPA, thank you so much for answering. My server is running on a Windows 10 PC with an i7 4790K processor, 8gb of RAM, a 120gb SSD for the OS, and two HDD’s (one is 4TB and the other is 8TB) for storage.
The first thing I see is you have all your movies and extras, for example,
May 13, 2018 18:46:06.674 [2660] DEBUG - Adding file for scanner: "E:\CINE\Darling.1965.720p.mkv"
May 13, 2018 18:46:06.674 [2660] DEBUG - Adding file for scanner: "E:\CINE\Darling.1965.720p_track3_spa.ssa"
all dropped into one directory This is not how it’s done when extras are involved.
You’re not getting posters because PMS is literally becoming utterly confused by the naming as well. Titles such as
E:\CINE\Gone Girl (1).mkv"
I suggest you create
E:\CINE\Movies
Then purchase and use FileBot, with the renaming rule of E:\CINE\Movies\{n} ({y}\{n} {y} when in “Movie” mode (you will see that in the lower left corner.
FileBot is invaluable doing media work like this.
I recommend it because PMS uses the file name you give it to find the artwork. The names provided are not clear to the automaton (Scanner). Sure, easy for us, but not to it. All those extra tokens on the line confuse it.
FileBot will allow you to see the new resultant name before you click “Rename”
the whole process is
Right-Click 'Match" and define (edit format) and ‘use format’ for the rule I provided for Movie mode
Drag & drop a few into the left pane
Right click and perform a MovieDB search.
If there is ambiguity, it will prompt you for the correct one. (example of ambiguity shown below)
Select the correct one.
You’ll see the correct path. My example is on Linux and therefor E:\ is not valid. You will see appropriate for windows.
Click Rename and it will both rename and move it at the same time.
if you have already added E:\CINE\Movies to the folder list, PMS will find it in its new location instantly and begin proper matching
It’s very arguably the best $5 USD app you’ll ever buy I can rename all 8000 episodes in my library in a few minutes (which I have done for testing purposes) without fear
Hi again. So, I renamed all the files with FileBot and deleted the library to start over from scratch. Sadly, I’m still having the same problem and the screen has been as you see it for almost 2 HOURS now! It takes forever to add a poster and most of the times it doesn’t even do it… I don’t know what to do anymore, this is becoming increasingly frustrating.
Quick update, it’s also happening with most of my TV Shows now aswell, which wasn’t an issue before… Should I just uninstall the whole thing and start over? Could my server be the problem?
I tried the Optimize option, but no the other two. I’ll give it a go. My agents are the same as they were before: Plex Movie for my Films and The TVDB for my TV Shows.
You TV Shows naming is not consistent. It’s also using incorrect structure.
You have shows where you use . instead of space for everything. This is incorrect.
Filebot Episode mode renaming format should be (verify this is the correct location please?)
D:\SERIES DE TV\{n}\Season {s.pad(2)}\{n}.{s00e00}.{t}
This removes the punkt fro between the name portions. If you have series with . in them, use D:\SERIES DE TV\{n}\Season {s.pad(2)}\{n} - {s00e00} - {t}
Your movies still need the directory above them. You did not do as I had shown above.
"D:\CINE\Free Fire (2017).mkv"
Should be:
D:\CINE\Free Fire (2017)\Free Fire (2017).mkv
Using this structure for all allows you to place extras (subtitles , trailers, and features) in the directory with the film as it must be.
Hi again! So, I followed your instructions again and deleted my library once I had created an individual folder for each file. After that I did both Empty Trash and Clean Bundles, and THEN created the library again. Once everything loaded, I noticed that the posters looked wrong again, so I selected Optimize Database but nothing changed…
As you’ll notice on the picture, another problem I’ve had is that Frozen seems to be duplicated, even though I only have the one file of the movie. Also, the Free Fire poster is blank because I tried to change the one that Plex selected automatically, which of course, was just an image from a scene in the movie. So… as you can see, I couldn’t find a solution just yet. I’ll leave you the logs so you can take a look, if you want to and have the time, again. Thank you.
