Not on all channels nor all shows, but some shows, such as The Big Bang Theory recording off of CBS prime time (not syndicated re-runs), will record the show as the wrong episode number.
For example, this week Episode 2 of Season 10 aired. In the schedule, and in fact, during recording, Plex noted that it was recording S10E02, but once the grabber finished, and it was moved to the show folder, it was bumped to S10E03, and even showed the correct description (and airing date!) of next week’s episode. I manually changed it back to E02, but the metadata agent has yet to find the correct listings data.
I have also seen this for current episodes of Nova on PBS.
My fear of course, is that if I don’t catch this manually I will miss a future episode as Plex thinks it is already recorded.
Thanks
Brad
I have this issue happening as well. It seems the episode name is correct, just the episode number in the title is off. For BigBang it named it “The Big Bang Theory (2007) - S10E03 - The Military Miniaturization”.
I haven’t noticed any other shows doing this so far.
I’ve had it happen, too. The correct ep. number and ep. title are retrieved from the guide, and shown in the DVR calendars, etc., but after the recording finishes and the file is moved into the “Season …” sub-folder, the ep. number in the filename is wrong, which causes the library agent to get the wrong metadata. Note: the included ep. name on the actual file is correct; just the ep. number is off.
A couple of examples:
- Wild Kratts - “The Other Martins” when moved into Season 04, the filename was “Wild Kratts (2010) - S04E03 - The Other Martins.mkv” rather than “…S04E04…”
- NOVA - “Secrets of the Sky Tombs” was given the filename “NOVA (1974) - S44E01 - Secrets of the Sky Tombs.mkv” rather than “…S44E08…”

I have also noticed this behavior with The Price Is Right that I record for my family. Since this show airs everyday, the order of episodes is off by about 3 days (e.g. a show is recorded on the 6th but is shown with an air date of 9th).
I have this problem also as of January 2017! Anyone see any activity to fix it?
Same here with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for my wife. That’s the most important kind of bug! Any traction on this?
Also, I swear it’s for my wife.
I have the same problem with The Price is Right.
I am seeing this also with Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD with PMS 1.4.4.3495. Exact same behavior, everything appears correct until after the recording is completed, then the episode number skips forward by one.
same problem with survivor
This is still happening to Nova…It is a little frustrating. At least the name of episode in the filename is right and just needs to be renumbered.
The problem is there are at least 4 different sites all with different information for Nova. IMDB has one set of data, TheTVDB has a different, Wikipedia has a third set, and PBS has a completely different set which does not match any of the previously mentioned site. Have yet to find a full list on PBS website for all seasons/episodes but have posted this same information on 2 or 3 other threads on the forum. Since TheTVDB is the source used by Plex for TV Shows you could always create an account which will then allow you to edit the Season/Episode information for Nova that Plex is pulling from.
