Some videos stuck on Continue Watching section

I always seem to a video that appears in the “Continue Watching” section that I’ve already finished watching and is marked as “watched”. The videos in question are videos that I have maybe paused in the pasted and picked up a later time to finish but they have definitely been watched completely. Every time I manually toggle the watched status (unwatched to watched again), the video will disappear but reappear next time I start the app.

Is this some sort of bug or is there a reason why it keeps appearing?

same thing is happening to me, I’ve tried dumping and reloading the database but nothing will get this stupid thing off the Continue Watching list

I just tried deleting the movie and then putting it back into the library on a different volume, and it reappeared in Continue Watching :\

How many Plex clients do you use?
Is this movie perhaps in perpetual ‘Pause’ mode on one of these clients?

I had this happen to one video. I removed it from my library for a few days, maybe a week, and put it back in to fix the problem. That was before I knew about the Plex Dance™… which is probably the better solution. What I was doing was taking the long way around.

Long story short, it’s a database glitch that I’ve only experienced once, that ties itself to that specific file. I believe the watch history part of the database exists apart from the list of files database. Removing the file still leaves the watch history for it in the database… so putting it back in right away just re-establishes the link between the two.

I recommend trying the Plex Dance™ procedure first. If that doesn’t work. Take the errant files out for a week and then put them back in.

Second thing to check:

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 5 minutes
  6. fetch log files and attach them here

Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.
