Continue Watching - Home Screen

Sorry if this is the wrong category, but i need some help or information regarding the Home screen.

On all my devices: TV, Phone, Web etc i am unable to see the ‘Continue to Watch’ screen.
I have tried all my devices, restarting the server, cleared database/bundles, reindex etc.

Nothing seem to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Continue Watching only appears after

  • a movie has been watched for at least 1 minute but not past the 90% mark
  • an episode of a tv show has been watched and there are still further unwatched episodes in that show
  • The libraries, where the above items are stored, must have been “pinned” to the left sidebar in your plex client.
  • The libraries, where the above items are stored, must NOT be marked as “Exclude from Home screen[…]” in their properties.

All of the above only applies to currently supported, genuine Plex clients. https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/player-apps-platforms/
When accessing a Plex server via a generic DLNA-compatible player, there is no Continue Watching.

I had atleast 10 items in that section and now its gone, i also just watched something for a few minutes and refreshed, nothing.

The clients that i use are:

Samsung TV (2024)
Samsung S23 Ultra
Desktop webversion (plex.tv/web)

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 2 minutes
  6. either refresh one movie or add one movie into your library
  7. wait 3 minutes
  8. fetch log files and attach them here

Your server is still in the process of scanning libraries, updating metadata etc. Don’t expect it to be fully ready before this hasn’t been finished.

Side note: if you want your [tmdb-xxxxxx] numbers in your file and folder names to be useful, enclose them in {}, instead of [] .

No activity anymore, so heres a new log file

Keep your server switched on at least for one night, so it can perform its database maintenance routines.

What about the other points of my first response?

  • a movie has been watched for at least 1 minute but not past the 90% mark
yep, but there is nothing here not even the category ‘continue to watch’

  • an episode of a tv show has been watched and there are still further unwatched episodes in that show
Yup - have many movies/series that fall under this category

  • The libraries, where the above items are stored, must have been “pinned” to the left sidebar in your plex client.
Yup - all common libraries have been pinned (in all apps over and over again)

  • The libraries, where the above items are stored, must NOT be marked as “Exclude from Home screen[…]” in their properties.
All library items are shown in other categories, the only problem is Continue to Watch

FYI i havent changed any settings i just noticed that it was gone.

–Will return tomorow probably with the same result

Did you perhaps change something in
Settings - [server] - Manage - Libraries
and enable both the “Recently Released” as well as “Recently Added” hubs for the Home page?

nope: FYI i havent changed any settings i just noticed that it was gone.

Goodmorning, heres the new log

still no change

Anyone?

After searching for days this was the solution of my issue with continue to watch not showing.
A corrupted database, got it fixed by using GitHub - ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair: Database repair utility for Plex Media Server databases
