"Something went wrong while sharing." - Problem Adding New User/Sharing

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7210
Player Version#: n/a

I am trying to allow a new user to access my Plex Media Server and I am getting a strange error message, Something went wrong while sharing

I’ve tried a dozen times on my server as well as using my Android phone app logged in as the admin.

Both devices are giving the same message.

I did check Plex’s Status page and all servers and systems appear to be operating without issue.

I did download the logs, but I’m unsure which log to look at for this problem.

You have maxed out your 100 sharees count.

OMG, I didn;t know there was a limit… Humph.

Thank you for replying.

i have the same issue and didn’t reach 50, tried to remove a friend from the list didn’t solve the issue.

I deleted 1 and was then able to add a new user.

It really would be great if this is a know limitation, Plex Media Server would give a more proper response.

I am having this issue as well have deleted several, but still same error comes up. I logged out and then back in but same issue any ideas

I don’t have anywhere near 50, much less 100 and I am experiencing this same issue. I had 18 and was trying to add an 19th and it was throwing this error. I have two servers on the same account, and even allowing for it counting each server as being shared twice for some reason, it wouldn’t be 50.

I was able to invite this person on to the server, and it now shows us as “friends”, but when I try to share libraries with them, it gives the “Something went wrong while sharing” error. I have also deleted a couple of users who had not logged in for a long ol’ while and it hasn’t resolved this.

Could it be another issue?

Is Plex planning to provide a response to this issue as I am trying to add someone today. I am a Plex Pass subscriber with less than 30 users and am getting this message today preventing me from sharing with a new person.

@thewonderloaf Please create a new thread for your issue and please post server logs from shortly after your issue.

You have triggered a temporary IP ban, this usually happens if too many account-related things like creating shares happen within a very short time.
On top of that, something in your account is trying to do something like the above every 20 minutes. Thus, prolonging the ban.
Stop your 3rd-party tools and let everything sit for at least 24 hours before trying anew.
