Server Version#: DSM 7.0-41890 / DS218Play
Player Version#: Version 1.24.0.4930
I am a plex pass user and believe that the Sonic Analysis feature should be working on my NAS, however, I can’t find it. As far as I can tell I am running the latest version, is there anything I can do to force an update?
Sorry to jump in, what about the DS918+?
I have the Sonic option ticked and library set for Sonic Analysis, yet it not scanning.
Is this NAS compatible?
Thanks, all looks to be set up correctly, but not doing the Sonic Analysis.
I’ve been through the document and everything is as it should be, I hope.
Library is set to “as a scheduled task and when media is added”.
Library folder is has tick box ticked for Sonic Analysis.
Once I press Save, the folder is Scanned quickly as it normally does for content.
Then stops…
Sonic Analysis started immediately after Plex scanned the albums and added them to the library.
In Plex Web, the activity icon is spinning and it shows “Sonic Analysis: Processing X albums.”
Plex Dashboard also shows the CPU at 50% - 60%.
Note you have to be using app.plex.tv to see the activity. The local version of Plex Web has not yet been updated.
You can also look in the Plex Media Server.[x].log files or Settings → Console for “MusicAnalysis”:
Aug 23, 2021 03:16:56.189 [0x7f9b9ae03b38] DEBUG - [MusicAnalysis] Activity: updated activity f1fc46cf-6234-4ba1-9229-0bacd0617d8b - completed 16.7% - Sonic Analysis
Ah-hah!
I was using local IP address to access PLEX. Used app.plex.tv and voila - thanks.
[MusicAnalysis] Activity: updated activity xxxxxxxxx-522a749eaa51 - completed 0.7% - Sonic Analysis
Got a bit to go!
Thanks
That’s not strange at all. If you compare the release # for the hosted vs. bundled version of Plex Web you’ll notice that the hosted version (https://app.plex.tv/desktop) is usually quite a few versions ahead. That’s mostly because Plex can only upgrade the bundled version with a PMS upgrade and not all upgrade can include a new web bundle.
Keep in mind… the sonic analysis will be working just fine with both – however you’ll only see the progress with the newer version of Plex Web.
