Sonic sage with openAI token and plexamp

Hello

I don’t understand how to use sonic sage with Plexamp

Thanks

It’s an experimental feature. It requires you to create a developer account at OpenAI https://openai.com/
(that’s where ChatGPT and GPT-4 are coming from)
and request an “API key” from them.
This API key then goes into the Plexamp preferences.

Then you can use their “artificial intelligence” to ask in natural language for music recommendations. Like “Bands that sound nothing like [artist]”, or “songs that would make a good wrestling intro”, or “mellow radiohead tracks” and so on.

It requires a Tidal account connected to Plex.

Where at in Preferences/settings does the API key go?

exactly yes … where

Settings/Advanced/Sonic Sage

Settings - Advanced - Sonic Sage

If you can’t find the preference, then this feature is not available yet for public testing.

Thank you Otto (and James). I’ll sit tight for this feature that as of yesterday I didn’t even know I wanted.

The release notes say…
Sonic Sage: Our ChatGPT-based playlist builder (requires TIDAL linkage and OpenAI API key).
So i guess you need a tidal account?

don’t have it and yes look like tide to tidal

You can kinda use it if your library is sufficiently large/diverse. But you may find that many queries will result in fewer or no results. Simply because you don’t have the tracks in your library that OpenAI is delivering as results.

OK, it is Tidal-only.

Probably won’t be the first to say…can it NOT be Tidal only? Maybe in the near future?

Anyway I re-enabled tidal and added my Openai API key. Not sure where to go from here to create a playlist with the ai logic.

Exactly the same

Same here. Got the Key and also have Tidal. Now…WHERE does one create a Sage playlist??? You’d think there be some sort of doc or how-to?

Try the Search tab.

Tried that…nada. Natural language search returns just the usual, nothing of note. :frowning:

Tried what exactly?
Did you tap the new item “Sonic Sage” on the Search tab?
(do not go straight to the input field on the top of the Search tab)

Otto, hmm. I am trying this on both IOS and MacOS. Tapping the search bar on the bottom without any other action just shows me “recent searches” on screen, below the search bar. Do not see a Sonic Sage option. I did verify that the api key is inputted, and “use GPT-4 when available” is enabled. Something must be off or wrong, it seems… : /

Are you using Plexamp with the user account of the server owner? Or did you switch to a Home user?

Above the Recent Searches you should see Aural Fixations and Sonic Explorations.

Server owner account. that’s the only account I have.

Are you blocking certain connections in your router/firewall/security appliance?

Did you disable the online mediasource “Music” in your Plex account settings? https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources

Did you add Tidal content to your local Plex music library?

Try resetting Plexamp preferences to defaults, using the button at the bottom of the Advanced Plexamp settings page.
