Sonos Playbar audio suddenly no longer working

Server Version#: 1.13.7.5369
Player Version#: 2.18.0.893-48795f25

Some update in the past month has made my audio stop working almost unilaterally. The only audio I have configured as passthrough in PMP is Dolby Digital (AC3), as that’s the only thing the Playbar supports. Sound is sent to the Playbar by a dedicated HDMI to SPDIF hardware audio extractor, the J-Tech JTD4KATSW, running in 5.1 channel mode. This doesn’t re-encode audio, and this setup has worked flawlessly since Plex Home Theater days.

Something that’s changed in the past 6-ish weeks has messed up my setup, and since all the videos that don’t play in PMP work perfectly in Media Player Classic Home Cinema, I can only put it down to something that’s changed in Plex.

Any assistance in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

Just some extra info, here’s an example of a file where the audio works fine:

Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 384kbps [A: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1, 384 kb/s [default]]

Here are examples where it suddenly doesn’t:

Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo [A: aac he-aac, 48000 Hz, stereo [default]]

I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s changed.

Update: FIXED! Turns out someone had turned the volume down within Plex Media Player (using the - key). Since Dolby Digital was set to pass-through, volume control didn’t affect it, but it DID affect those streams that were transcoded. Leaving this post and solution up for posterity, in case someone else comes across such a silly issue.
