Sorting default option forced in all devices

Hi -

There is a little inconvenience that I couldn’t find a solution yet. From time to time that a device access a library we might see it sorted alphabetically. I’d like that the server default option to be changed to be by year, is it possible? If yes, what are the steps?

No, the default is always by title. However, if you change the filter/sort, the client should remember and reuse that same filter/sort next time, until you change it.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

As an user I feel that we should look for an improvement on the next server update releases to be optional to modify the default. This would be very handy for some of people that are not familiar with doing the change, specially if we have more than one library.

I can report that I saw the clients losing the filter/sort and having to apply again the same settings.

Thank you and hopefully that this request/feedback pass through to the developer team for future improvements.

Can you tell me which version of PMS you are using, the Plex client and that version, and the specific steps you are performing?

This is working for me so I’ll need to try and reproduce to see why it’s not working for you.

PMS Version 1.18.4.2171
Any client Android phones, Laptops or Nvidia Shield after one or two days they reset to the alphanumerical order in the libraries

In Plex Web, when you notice the change reverting, are you still taken to the library tab? Recommended is the default, so if something is removing this information, it should also take you back to Recommended.

You are correct. It is taking me back to the Recommended and not to the Library which is quite annoying too.

Do you notice if when it changes, it changes for all clients at the same time, or does it change randomly for each device?

It changes for all clients at the same time. Not sure if this is helpful but I think that it only happens if I add some new content

That information is stored in the database. Can you PM me a zipped copy of your database as it is now. The next time you see the sort fail, grab the database again, before fixing anything, and PM that to me too. Let me know which library you looked at and I will see if that information changed/got removed.
