Source for TV Show Content Rating

I guess you did not review their bible rules on edits. They are strict (rightly so) and enforce their rules.

I did but it seems that they only want official (e.g. BBFC) certifications and not a sensibly recommended one if no official one exists.

Had an interesting conversation with them about this but they’re sticking to that rule, which I accept.

Interesting… Their bible says nothing regarding BBFC but get what they mean on subjective/sensible opinions where no cert exists Content Ratings - TV Bible — The Movie Database (TMDB)

Yes, their bible is a bit American sided. The BBFC is the British equivalent of the MPAA and therefore the authoritative source for UK certification; but I suspect you knew this, lol.

As for sensible self-ratings, I was only doing this for the completeness of my collection as I don’t like having a non-rated, especially when sharing the library with the kids (they obviously have their own user account with the relevant restrictions).

It’s a bit frustrating frankly, as I was hoping to move away from nfos given Plex will probably stop them from being used in the future anyway. And as I’ve already mentioned, when I used the new Plex movie agent, which sources TMDB, it was missing well over 700+ certifications, which I know that IMDB has the majority of those. I have probably self-rated about 100 odd in all.

Regarding this question above:

I now know what is happening. Hawkeye did not have a UK certification for it on TMDB. In plex at the show level it was getting the 12 certification from IMDB or TVDB and then failing back to TV-14 (US certification) at the episode level.

What I’ve done was add UK certification on TMDB and gave it 48 hrs to pass through the plex cache system. The episode certifications now match 12 as it exists on TMDB at the show level.
